cd /home/runner/work/StrikePackageGPT/StrikePackageGPT
docker-compose up -d

2. Test Backend

# Health check
curl http://localhost:8001/health

# Test nmap parser
curl -X POST http://localhost:8001/api/nmap/parse \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"format": "xml", "content": "..."}'

# Test explanation
curl -X POST http://localhost:8001/api/explain \

🔐 Security Considerations

Implemented

Input validation on all API endpoints
Sanitization of config data
File path validation for backups
CORS headers configured
Optional authentication (OpenAI API keys)
No secrets in code (env variables)

⚠️ Add rate limiting to API endpoints
⚠️ Implement authentication/authorization
⚠️ Add HTTPS in production
⚠️ Secure voice data transmission
⚠️ Audit LLM prompts for injection

🧪 Testing

Manual Tests Performed

Python syntax validation (all files)
Import resolution verified
API endpoint structure validated
Code review completed

  • Unit tests for parser functions
  • Integration tests for API endpoints
  • E2E tests for React components
  • Voice control browser compatibility
  • Load testing for LLM endpoints
  • Security scanning (OWASP)

🎨 Design Decisions

Why These Choices?

Flat file structure: Easier to navigate, no deep nesting
Template React components: Flexible integration options
Multiple STT/TTS options: Graceful fallbacks
Local-first approach: Privacy and offline capability
Plain-English everywhere: Beginner-friendly
Disk-based backups: No database required
Environment variables: Easy configuration

Trade-offs

Decision Benefit Trade-off
No React build Easy to start Requires manual integration
In-memory sessions Fast, simple Lost on restart
File backups No DB needed Manual cleanup required
Optional Whisper Privacy, free Setup complexity

🔮 Future Enhancements

High Priority

  1. Authentication system - User login and permissions
  2. Database integration - PostgreSQL for persistence
  3. WebSocket support - Real-time updates
  4. Mobile responsive - Touch-friendly UI

Medium Priority

  1. Multi-language support - i18n for voice and UI
  2. Custom voice models - Fine-tuned for security terms
  3. Advanced network viz - 3D topology, attack paths
  4. Report generation - PDF/Word export

Low Priority

  1. Plugin system - Third-party extensions
  2. Dark mode - Theme switching
  3. Offline mode - PWA support
  4. Voice profiles - Per-user voice training

🐛 Known Limitations

  1. React components are templates - Require build system to use
  2. Voice control requires HTTPS - Browser security requirement
  3. Whisper is CPU-intensive - May be slow without GPU
  4. LLM responses are asynchronous - Can take 5-30 seconds
  5. Network map requires Cytoscape - Additional npm package
  6. Config backups grow unbounded - Manual cleanup needed
  7. Session state is in-memory - Lost on service restart
